DEVELOPMENT PLANNING AND INFRASTRUCTURE: SALIENT FEATURES


More than 500 acres of land has already been allotted in the month of April, 2010 to the university at Mahendergarh. In the meantime, university inviting professional inputs and other’s evolved a tentative conceptual plan with following features:


  • Campus to be developed in phases – each phase linked to the idea of a integrated Campus, housing ‘State of the art’ buildings - environment friendly and energy efficient.
  • Concepts of Green Building, Photovoltaic roof structures and solar trees for harnessing solar energy to guide the campus development.
  • Building materials will be selected that minimizes any detrimental environmental effects.
  • Construction items would include locally available bricks, concrete, steel etc. with high levels of re-cycled contents
  • Buildings of the University will be constructed in a cost effective manner
  • Passive solar design for natural heating and cooling
  • To optimize heat and AC system
  • Trees, vegetation and bird habitat on the site will be protected during the construction of campus buildings
  • Buildings to be designed keeping in view the climatic, geographic and other needs of the region.
  • Rain harvesting, storing solar energy – important aspect of development plan.
  • Development of Campus to be in the ratio of 30 : 70 (constructed : open space)
  • Campus to comprise nodes designed to suit specific requirement of different schools, giving each a distinguished identity.
  • Core Campus will house academic nodes, laboratories, libraries core to be surrounded by periphery housing administrative block, examination wing, learning space, health centre etc. There will be pathways for pedestals to walk from periphery to core campus.
  • Entire Campus to be e-connected, Labs, libraries and other buildings to be fully security proof.

Knowledge corridors to connect various nodes, pathways, administrative block and residential zones

  • Open air theatre

  • A separate residential zone for Vice-Chancellor, Registrar and faculty
  • A zone comprising set of small and big guest houses
  • A zone comprising Auditorium, Seminar and Committee Rooms
  • A zone comprising recreational centre, shopping complex, hobby centre and other such facilities

The University immediately after getting possession of the land at Jant-Pali, Mahendergarh acted in the matter constituting various Committees and Groups like the Building Committee to make suggestions and give ideas. Serious discussions were held spreading over many meetings. Finally, on the recommendations made by various Committees the Executive Council of the University approved the road map the roadmap for first phase of development of the campus on the site in (Mahendergarh), Jant-Pali. The first phase of development comprises construction of boundary wall and a block of four buildings.


  • This block of buildings in the initial stage will host separate hostels for boys and girls, modest accommodation for faculty and other staff, academic wing with class rooms, seminar rooms, tutorial rooms, laboratories, libraries, conferencing facilities, etc;
  • This block of buildings will be integrated as a part of hostel zone when the development of the Campus enters in the final phase.

The work on the first phase has already commenced.
